Hello!
Nice to meet you! My name is Freya and I am a K9 Nosework instructor, based in Madison, Wisconsin. I am training to become a certified instructor with the National Association for Canine Scent Work (NACSW). I am currently accepting new students for an Intro to K9 Nosework class starting in fall, 2026.
What is K9 Nosework?
Your dog uses their nose. All. The. Time. We as humans have no idea how rich their sniffy world is. K9 Nose Work empowers your dog to show you how their world of smell works.
By progressing through a proven program of scent games and puzzles, you will achieve:
1. Deepening of the dog-human bond: Nosework is a team sport – you will learn to read your dog’s body language, and read how they are interpreting what they smell
2. Greater dog confidence and skill: Your dog will build confidence and activate their problem solving skills.
3. Social connection: Because dogs work one at a time, you will be able to connect with other people and watch their dogs problem solve too
About me
I am a veterinarian, and have spent more than 25 years working professionally with dogs and their caregivers. I believe deeply in finding ways to strengthen the dog-human bond.
Training philosophy
Nose Work empowers the dog. My training philosophy is to nurture that empowerment to build confidence, motivation, and connection between dog and person.
