There are options to participate in nosework as a sport, attending trials. But mostly, nosework is just FUN – for both dog …and human

My name is Freya and I am an NACSW Associate K9 NoseWork Instructor based in Madison, Wisconsin. I am currently accepting new students for Introduction to K9Nosework classes starting in fall, 2026.
What is K9 Nosework?
Your dog uses their nose. All. The. Time. We as humans have no idea how rich their sniffy world is. K9 Nosework empowers your dog to show you how their world of smell works.
By progressing through a proven program of scent games and puzzles, you will achieve:
1. Deepening of the dog-human bond: Nosework is a team sport - you will learn to read your dog's body language, and read how they are interpreting what they smell
2. Greater dog confidence and activity: Your dog will build confidence and activate their problem solving skills.
3. Social connection: Because dogs work one at a time, you will be able to connect with other people and watch their dogs problem solve too
